Cafe dinh

Opened in 1990s, Café Dinh has become a familiar address of Hanoi lovers. At the beginning, it was called as Bich café – due to the female owner’s name. She is the daughter of Mr Giang who is the founder of Giang café – a popular brand since French Colonialism period in Vietnam. Gradually, people have known about it by Dinh café because of a simple reason: this shop is located at Dinh Tien Hoang Street, near by Hoan Kiem Lake.

Ms. Bich – the owner of Café Dinh
Despite of its fame, this coffee shop is quite hard to find and even has no signboard.  Café Dinh is placed on the 2nd floor of a small house with ancient French architecture. At this narrow space, there are a few sets of low faded wooden tables and chairs, a tiny balcony with the view toward Hoan Kiem Lake. Old walls with moss, some pictures of Hanoians’ beauty and ballad rhythm in a dark, narrow space, all of these things make the lure of this shop.

A tiny balcony with the view toward Hoan Kiem Lake
This shop is always crowed. Mostly the people come here usually are students, art lovers and music fans. Egg coffee is the specialty of Café Dinh, it’s still made with filter to keep traditional flavor. Other drinks are black coffee, white coffee, ice tea, etc.

Guests can also feel the season from the color and flavor inside this shop, no need to go out outside the street.

The color and flavor of the season
It can be said that Café Dinh is an indispensable part of old Hanoi picture. Despite of the rush of life outside, every time you come to this space, you will always feel peaceful. The best way to calm your mind is sitting at a small balcony table, enjoying a cup of coffee and overlooking the street below. With Hanoi lovers, Café Dinh is not only a Café shop but also a place where they can relax and find themselves.
